Case File 2018.05.31

Gwynedd Starling was relaxing in the Castle study. Sitting by the fire with her book and a forgotten cup of tea in hand. Rhea didn't expect to find anyone in the study when she'd wandered in to trade out a book, and couldn't tell how long their newest guest had been quietly watching the fire. It seemed not wanting to startle the other woman wouldn't go as intended when trying to inquire on her health rather than passing in and out of the room like a ghost.

The other woman wasn't physically in the best of shape, but still far better than when Gwynedd had first arrived. The sickness had passed, no more shaking and throwing up, but traces of short term starvation and a pale complexion was present from the withdrawal to the Red venom. Rhea didn't think Gwynedd felt up to doing much yet, and offered to help if she needed anything. She politely declined, and inquired to Rhea's own recover since the incident and their return from Peru.

Rhea was well enough physically, though there was still a few things on her mind. She brushed it off about as lightly for the moment as noting she and her odd healing quirk had made it into field reports. Seeing that all Council activity is required to be recorded, that realization makes it that much more official in mind to her being the current Warden of Chicago. If she really wanted to know what was written in those reports, she could ask Liam-- maybe something to keep in mind when she follows up on the situation and request involving Lachlan an Raina from the other day. She's about to leave when makes a note on the protective gesture Gwynedd had for the book on her lap.

Gwynedd rationalizes the book is the reason for Liam disobeying the Council and organizing a rescue. She shows Rhea a brief demonstration as to what it is, at first the book appears blank when opened. After closing and quietly speaking a phrase of power, the book reveals text when opened for Rhea to view once more. The young woman explains that any written book within Headquarters and be delivered to these pages of the one she held in her hands now. Rhea couldn't fully contain her geeky moment in appreciation of the book. It was a very useful research tool, but at the same time she could see it being dangerous as well.

With the polite conversation taking a little more than expected out of Gwynedd, she excused herself to get some rest for the night. Rhea mentioned that she'd be in the kitchen for a bit if she needed anything, watching her leave before doing the same herself to make a little something to eat and read. Though it seemed that young Alex had taken to eavesdropping on the two women's conversation. Leaving him with the idea of trying to get some time with Gwynedd and that intreaguing book.
