Alex had a pretty good day where he worked apparently, as he dumped the contents of his bag on a coffee table in the lounge laughing. It was a curious enough sound and sight that Rhea paused, not certain what to say at first before asking if he was okay. Apparently there was a dance event at the club he worked at earlier in the evening and by the looks of the bills and coins on the table-- Alex won quite a bit. The explanation tumbling out after stating the money wasn't stolen...a curious quirk hinting of a not so great past which required the additional clarification.
It was still a bit amusing a reaction, it's not like Alex had to worry about the rent exactly for his room in the Castle these days, but having funds to move about in the real world was useful. After a moment he inquires on Rhea's own activities, noting the cup of tea in her hand. Without going into too much detail, she mentioned just the usual boring stuff-- study and research. At least when her Warden duties weren't requiring her time. It wasn't exactly boring to her, just probably to one like Alex that mentioned his own progress at manipulating magic. He had the idea that she should create some scary wind creature with her own use of magic.
Certainly that wasn't Rhea's style, subtle first and then if needed-- brute, flashy force. It was around that point in their conversation when Kenneth appeared and commented on Alex's spoils as he continued to sort it out on the coffee table. Shaking her head at Alex she warns Ken not to encourage him before excusing herself from the room...before she can learn more about the comments of marketing in mesh briefs. That was more than she cared to know in the first place. Saying good night, Rhea left to finish up her work before bed while leaving the two young men to talk.
Alex found Rhea's prompt retreat from the Castle lounge at the comment on his marketing prows amusing. Kenneth settled in to take a break from his own study and catch up with Alex outside of any time they'd likely be together as they both trained under Liam. Despite the amusement, Alex was still pretty tense and Ken picked up on that. The inquiry as to why lead to a couple answers. The human answer was outside of his little expose at the club tonight, he'd been ignoring the more sexual side of his nature. The supernatural answer was concern about the looming debt to "The Queen of Air and Darkness" which could be called in at any moment.
In a way he felt that the lack of information provided was how he ended up in that situation in the first place. Without explaining more to Ken and ending up with Liam punching him in the back of the head for doing so-- he explained only a small part of Council attitude. He felt Liam was still a pretty okay guy, but didn't care for his association with that group. The group that felt the less you knew the better but don't break the laws you don't know about or you're dead. Alex's word of advice to Ken was to learn enough to survive and defend himself. Plus never stating the phrase "I owe you" to anyone. Regardless, he did see Liam as not quite like the Council, but with a touch of the attitude from time to time. He left Ken on that note as he retreated to bed before the alcohol fully caught up with him. It'd be a little while before Ken himself left for home, focused on finishing a little more studying before calling it a night himself.
