Elena could be considered a glutton for punishment or a work-a-holic when it came to her work. So it was a rare day for Elena to not work, and perhaps just as rar to spend any social time with co-workers outside of the precinct in non-work related outings. The combination of both being particularly unusual. An old SI partner had talked her into joining a group of them for the Polar Plunge that day-- having survived the icy waters of Lake Michigan, the rest of the time had been spent that afternoon at the after party in celebration. Eventually she'd make her way in to a dive bar where Asher worked, still riding a little of the buzz from an afternoon of drinking.
Asher happened to be working there today. Given that he'd mostly made a new career from being a drifter-- going where he needed to go but not quite in the same way as Elena's work as a Knight. If he wasn't chasing the occasional demon or lost soul, he was floating through community service in various shelters and soup kitchens. The rest of his times he'd be found there at Penny's working a dive amongst dives. He'd either been expecting or sensed Elena as she entered and it didn't take long for her to spot him at the bar. She settled in at the end of the bar to catch up with him.
The pleasant tone of the conversation didn't last very long. As much as Asher didn't want to spoil Elena's good mood and day away from work, there was no way he could really lie to her either. He'd mentioned that he might be getting wind of something, not sure yet but there'd been a couple of dreams and a weird feeling. Elena could sense he hadn't wanted to mention even that much and pressed for details and leaving the floor open for him to talk knowing it was okay. Even still, it broke his heart to take even the brief moment of peace from Elena. Asher mentioned that it had to do with a fire...and it was bad-- asking if the name Foy meant anything to her. It wasn't a name that she recognized but it might be something she could find out...and this warning of sorts might still be a ways out and not immediately.
Elena reassured Asher that they'd be able to take care of it and he didn't have to deal with it by himself. She'd relax and enjoy the rest of the evening in Asher's company until Penny's closed for the night. Getting a good rest before returning to her work in the real world. Asher later that night dreamed again about the fire-- seeing the view from behind as the fire spread and a woman speaking to a crowd. The details of the woman he couldn't quite make out, just the clothing...and he couldn't hear her voice.
