Eventually even Rhea found that she needed a break from the side research she'd been doing out of precaution of a newly discovered artifact. Perhaps new was the wrong term...it was more like new to her-- given that it'd existed long before she was born. Regardless, staring at it right now wasn't going to help and the fresh air would do her good. He feet carried her over towards Navy Pier, that evening they'd be starting up some fireworks that ran throughout the full of the Aon Summer Firework shows. It'd been awhile since she'd taken time to enjoy something like this. She half forgot that there were interesting events, like the Chicago Flower and Garden Show that Leeni would have-- that's right...a lot has changed. Pushing the thought aside, Rhea might have turned and left if not for a familiar voice greeting her.
Kevin, a changeling, and friend of Leeni's during the time she still took classes at the university, was only a short distance away from her. Since recent semi-recent events, Rhea couldn't help but tense at first at a voice recognizing her among the crowd. Her reaction fades quickly as she returns the greeting. Apparently she didn't recover quick enough for Kevin to not notice the momentary tension. It'd been awhile since either of them had met or spoken with another, less so now after Leeni ended up making her Choice to become the Spring Lady. Of which further complications, resulting into a particular Wizard's banishment and the sudden rank change of Lady to Queen. It had not been quite the 'festive' day as it should have been.
Rhea did find it morbidly humorous that anyone would have to tell her to relax because they weren't going to eat her was almost commonplace to her. Catching up with Kevin, he was still in classes, but Spring Break would be starting a bit later...though a lot of his classmates had already mentally checked out to go on vacation. Classes have been going well for him. It was more of the unspoken side of his not-so-human aspect that had been more a distraction in the back of his thoughts.
The fireworks lit up the sky and reflected on the dark waters below...even for a lake it still appeared to stretch on forever. Something that left Rhea feeling a bit tiny in comparison to the vastness of the world. The aspect of the water's seeming endlessness not even phasing one like Kevin. It pulled at various memories for her, and a bit for him as well...though his home and family were not quite the same as hers. So much had changed...but if none of it had happened-- Rhea wouldn't be here now. She might not have met Liam...Elena...Ishiko...Kevin...or others if not for what happened so many years ago back home. It might not have been ideal, but those in her life now...she was lucky to have. She spent a few moments more catching up with Kevin, excusing herself politely when the question about where her 'duties' takes her came up in conversation. Even if she weren't concerned about it bringing the young changeling trouble knowing something, it just probably wouldn't be a good idea in general to disclose that information. Not that she liked to recall it in the first place for reports. She parted, telling Kevin they should catch up again at Mac's or something before leaving. She had a feeling that the conflict of living between worlds was growing in him...and he'd likely need help regarding that Choice soon.
