Case File 2018.02.18

Rhea returned from Wanderland in the morning, and it was agreed upon to meet later that evening in the dining hall of the Castle. Elena and Rhea were already present as Liam arrived just a bit late from the intended meeting time. At the reveal of the contents of the box Rhea brought, it was clear that neither had exactly been expecting to see the Horn of Jericho after Oberon had taken it and turned the Reds away from killing Elena and Liam. All the Reds got out of the deal was Harlowe Stiltskin and their money returned from a failed negotiation with Gwen for the Horn…along with the ability to leave that place in one piece instead of multiple pieces.

Rhea was ill at ease about the contents of the box for other reasons outside of knowing from Liam’s report what it was capable of— the fact remains that The Horn was viewed to be of equal power to Corvus bound up in the Anchor…the original artifact Sterling had been unable to return after Kismet’s Table broke. Corvus’ true nature, something massive and to the point of nightmarish made Cthulhu look warm and fuzzy had been realized during that prior road trip. She stated her discomfort and the likelihood that at least two individuals knew she had this artifact now. One being Sterling, the one who’d given her The Horn back in Wanderland. The other being Monty, who acting as the Avatar had wizard-napped her for that meeting which depended on Wanderland’s survival.

Liam pointed out that people would know she has it, but at the same time it’d give them pause about taking a swing at her— knowing she could come at them in retaliation with this artifact. She’d have to keep it hidden so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands…and they’d have to figure out what safety mechanism caused the boat crew to tear each other apart too. As much as she didn’t like it, Rhea was now the guardian of this thing. Elena was confident and reassuring that she could handle it, even if she questioned herself a bit having lost the Anchor in the first place. Resigned to the new guardianship of this artifact, Rhea stated she’d have to keep The Horn and her research secret. She asked both if either of them knew of what might have triggered the incident at the docks in the first place.

It wasn’t too much a surprise that Liam stated his permission to remove her former apprentice’s head if her notes were picked through— he might have even handed her the sword himself, of which she had no doubt given the potential danger to the world as a whole now that this artifact was even in the city of Chicago. In regards to The Horn itself, there wasn’t much Liam could offer in more direct info short of that it was a pretty potent foci for what it’d been capable of in the books he’d read. Elena couldn’t add much more to that idea, only confirming what bit she knew about the ‘story’ of the Battle of Jericho. Even raised in the Bible Belt back in her former years, Rhea didn’t have much that neither had been able to state currently.

It wasn’t bound to be that easy, but there was really no help for it now that it was here with her— the price paid to allow Wanderland to repay its debt owed to her in order to begin its own restoration from the events months ago. As the artifact’s new caretaker, Rhea stated this would be the last either of them saw of The Horn of Jericho unless it was ever needed…and stating that doesn’t become a reality. The less Elena or Liam knew about the specific whereabouts of this trinket, the better…for all of them. It would be a ‘need to know only’ level of clearance for that knowledge and it was acceptable terms for all of them. For Rhea it was enough that they knew she had it even if not where it was stashed. With that they three called it a night, Elena and Liam going about the rest of their evening after this meeting while Rhea had a bit more to tend to before her night would conclude.
