A half mile from North Pond within Lincoln Park, close to Gwen's meeting point in the note. Elena and Liam were carefully sneaking through the partially wooded section of the park closing in on the meeting. By the time the two closed in on the exchange site between Gwen and a trio or Red Court vampires, they were in time to see the intended exchange go South. The leader of the Red trio held out his hand expecting to receive the item Gwen had procured, but only a moment after that gesture found himself taken hold by a dark energy as black veins appeared and filled with molten gold before bursting and splitting-- tearing him apart as burning flesh hit the air along with his death gasp. It was only a moment later when Harlow stepped out from between the remains and demanding Gwen to hand over the item she'd been about to exchange with the dead Reds.

Elena and Liam were in time to witness Harlowe make his move...and even as she whispered to Liam-- he was gone, already on the move. A flash of light...the sounds of metal on metal...the sound of pain and a wet splashing sound. Elena hung back, drawing her weapon and watching, waiting for her opportunity to take aim and fire at Harlowe. The man moved fast, but in the middle of his fight he didn't manage to evade all of Elena's shots as one struck him in the side as he reached for the box Gwen had dropped on the ground as she was injured. A moment later a Way tore open from behind as he disappeared back into the Nevernever.

Gwen was barely keeping conscious as she tried to focus on Liam. He was beside the woman, holding the wound closed as Elena caught up to them. Exchanging a knowing glance that a bad guy had just gotten away with something dangerous, but they wouldn't know exactly what if Gwen died. Liam refused to be treated at the hospital, but an ambulance was called to help Gwen. Another call would be made to Rhea to have her meet the three of them at the same hospital. While the hospital tended to Gwen, in the chapel away from anything that could be knocked out by magic-- Rhea would work on treating Liam. After he was patched up enough to keep going, a conversation was had and assignments made. Rhea would be on guard duty to Gwen as Liam and Elena continued the hunt. Gwen received care for her injuries, but would be out for hours still before waking up with Rhea keeping watch.
