Case File 2017.12.02

It took some time, but eventually Alex brought himself to locate Liam in the study for a conversation long overdue. Perhaps expecting this sooner but nonetheless expecting it, Liam wasn't phased by Alex approach to leave their prior disagreement to the past before bringing up yet another issue to his attention. The new matter at hand was the discovery of Ken, a practioner new to the life...very new seeing as he'd managed to run into a Red nest before a Warden and some other individual showed up and kept the man from harm. Seeing as there was only one official acting Warden of the city, it was a good guess that Rhea had met the man and sent him to Mac's and out of that area for the evening. That was where he'd run into Alex and had a bit of a chat regarding the odd display of what Ken could barely believe to have seen. Alex wanted to bring the man into the Castle for protection. It was several long moments as Liam digested the information, knowing already about the incident ahead of time from Rhea's prior report to him and allowing him to put more of the pieces together. Alex certainly didn't like Liam's initial response in regards to the potential issues and gambling with other's lives by bring a stranger in-- even if the intention to help save the man was at the core of the matter. In the end, Liam agreed to speak with the man at Mac's and see for himself at the very least.

It was perhaps moments after Alex was broaching the topic of adjustment to his current training when the bell rang from the front door. The unexpected visitor at this hour pretty much ended the conversation as Liam rose to go see who was at the door, but not bothering to quicken his pace. Curiosity getting the better of him, Alex followed after to also see who would make a point of visiting this place at this time of night. They wouldn't make it to the door before Rhea-- she'd been closer at the time the bell rang, opening the door revealed Lachlan Blackbriar. She smiled politely and then promptly closed the door, calling back into the Castle that she needed an adult. It seemed from the handful of times she'd used that expression it'd become her code of a visitor that could be trouble. She'd then open the door again to take further assessment of the weapons on his person, stating he wasn't getting in with those. It would be a moment later when Liam, followed by Alex, would show up at the front door. Lachlan introduced himself formally as an agent of The Fellowhip of Saint Giles, present to render aid to the city of Chicago. Liam pointed out that Tijuana was more the frontline and not this city-- though from what the man had seen on his own was still enough to convince him that the city was surrounded and in dire need to eradicate the problem.

Perhaps not the welcome he had been expecting, but nonetheless it didn't set well with him as he turned to depart under cover of a veil. Lachlan, this former warden, might be good to have in the city right now but Chicago was no where near the level of activity Liam had seen elsewhere. There seemed to be a bit more about Lachlan than the surface appearance. It may have kept the others a bit in the dark, but that man came with his own set of baggage-- something Liam would address later and not at his own doorstep. Rhea had intended to head back to the task of making tea when Alex decided at that moment to round on her in regards to her prior actions surrounding Ken. He accused her to sending the other man, the one she and Lachlan had managed to extract from becoming a meal for a Red nest that he'd happened to wander into, to go out for a beer at Mac's. Questioning her personal value of people's lives before turning away to leave. Rhea wasn't in the mood for an argument, and tried to point out that Mac's was one of the safer places to be-- it was Neutral Ground for one. Plus, it would give her a chance to find him if he was still there after clearing the area herself, not trusting Lachlan's word that there was nothing else in the area. She let him go, not wanting to get into a verbal match tonight-- the plan for the moment was to get some tea in her system and decompress from the day.

ASHER'S APARTMENT

Seeing as Buddy had wandered off for a time during the night of the dinner at the Castle to chat with Alex at one point-- he'd missed the look that lead to a new step Elena and Asher's relationship. Settled in the Asher's apartment...he was getting some of those details now. Though...even for a big step in just exchanging a kiss with Elena-- the doll had been anticipating more than that. Buddy proceeded to provide advice in what to do next time Asher saw Elena...revolving around pantsing her and insisting she's waiting for him to make a move. Buddy even offered to provide a play by play after the dropped trow if he needed-- further annoying Asher. Asher eventually tried to defend his actions by stating that Elena was a friend and he was not going to treat her in such a way. Buddy countered that she's not his friend and never will be...they'd fight to the ends of the earth, screw each other silly, defy the order of the Universe, undo the laws of eternity and each other until it makes their stomach turn as their hands shake-- lovers, mortal enemies...but not friends. It took a long moment for that to sink in and it didn't really argue Buddy's point to drop Elena's trow-- a point the doll agreed to as they sat in silence drinking.
