Case File 2017.10.13

Alex had been shot, Val DeWitt seemed to have vanished moments after as the chaos of the DeWitt gang spread into town. Explosions struck the sheriff and doctor's offices while Molotovs struck the side of the saloon. As the fire broke out, some of townsfolk took to a makeshift bucket brigade in attempts to control the flames and keep the town from burning to the ground. Rhea took to picking off members of the DeWitt gang attacking those trying to put out the fire, taking out additional members she spied from the shadows of her hiding place. Having lost track of his father for the moment, it wasn't long before someone else moved in to take a shot at Alex...Red Horse, the only Indian within the gang. From the saloon Gwen and Delilah held their own well enough, at least until a strong set of arms took hold of Delilah's gun and pulled her out the broken window into the streets. Gwen followed after to help the girl until taking a shot in the ribs and ending up sprawled out beside Delilah. Val DeWitt loomed over them both, demanding to know which one of them shot Howie...promising to make their death quick if they fessed up to the deed. It was about this time that Alex finished his one-on-one bout with Red Horse and turned to face his father. Delilah shuffled over to Gwen, trying to stop the bleeding from the gunshot wound she'd received, but it was a fatal shot even if the woman wasn't dead just yet. Gwen took the Derringer that Delilah had placed in her hand, and turned it on Val. He took a shot to the stomach and instantly reacted to execute Gwen with a return shot, not quite moving fast enough to avoid the injury in the first place. Though he was fast enough to also get off a shot into Alex's left shoulder and injurying Alex's last good arm-- his other had been hurt badly in the fight with Red Horse. It was a tense moment, the stand off between father and son, and right now it looked like the deck was stacked against Alex. A last shot effort on Delilah's part, not fearing the gun held to her head by Val-- she tossed sand in his face to give Alex the chance he needed to put a final bullet in his ol' man. She'd braced herself for the shot, but as the dust settled, she remained whole. Val DeWitt fell lifeless to the ground and Alex was hanging by a thread from the shot to his side. His last words to Delilah were for her to go live her life and knowing that while he'd always known trying to leave his past life behind would kill him-- at least he'd done one good thing with his life at the end.
