The recon attempt on the Lion Queen had not gone well the previous night. During the attempted return on a late night call to a fan boat to navigate the Water Maze both Alex and Rhea had been ambushed. The main target had been Rhea, but Alex didn't wait to find out the nature of the situation before acting. It was later learned that the former sheriff, Chris had arranged to jump Doug and intercept that fan boat to pick the two up on their way back from the Lion Queen. Johnston's guys may have laid the ambush quickly, but Doug had gotten word to the current sheriff Haplan to respond to the situation. Alex had been tended to by Jack, giving others time to rest and recover since the scramble to patch up the young man after the injuries sustained that night. Alex offered his thanks to Jack as he returned to the kitchen who suggested he might want to take it easy. Following up a through-and-through shot from an AR-15 to wrestle in the water with a vampire was not the ideal way to prevent further injury from a severe wound as that. Alex seemed to be a touch combative of the observation to his more recent injuries but gave his thanks to the man as well as to Rhea as she entered the kitchen. She was tired as it is and perhaps her attempt at humor fell flat when telling Alex to avoid playing action man again while thanking Jack herself for the supplies he'd brought in that night. Going over what had and could have happened that night wasn't going to get them anywhere, but it did raise a nagging question for her-- Rhea asked Jack if he knew just how far word about their presence had spread into town. That wasn't going to make their task any easier...and it was going to put a target on her head given her rank as a Warden for the White Council. Jack couldn't really confirm that, but he could confirm that Gwen's presence in town is the second and she'd likely make for The Fount. However the obsticals of the Conquistador or the Sentinel would likely kill her even though he didn't wish that on the woman. The Sentinel is a Genius Loci that protects The Fount...and uncertain short of the other side of the same coin-- the Conquistador is something that's always risen to try and get to it...always on an island called The Darkening. The conversation concluded as Jack left to check on Miss Lizzy...and after Alex got his explanation on a Genius Loci, he left as well to attend to his own business. Rhea mulled over everything while finishing up her coffee before returning to the room to prep for future encounters with either Chris or other Reds and who know what else...
Haplan found Liam outside with a view of the waterways that seemed to stretch forever. Giving her thanks for the aid in protecting Alex and Rhea that night when the former sheriff had laid an ambush on their way back to the Elizabeth House. She passes off the aid as taking care of guests to the Elizabeth House and it wouldn't do to let others get hurt or killed in Okeeokalee. Liam didn't buy her explanation...he could tell that the former sheriff had been a friend and maybe a mentor that'd taught her how to be the good cop she was now. Though another curiosity on his mind was Jack, the individual that'd shown up with help for Alex and appeared to be pretty close to Miss Lizzy. For as long as Happy could tell, that man has never seemed to age and he's a living, walking folk legend in these parts-- there's more stories about Jack than could possibly be true. What she did know is that Jack and Miss Lizzy are close and used to be closer, whatever happened one day...he just didn't stop by as much. That pegged Jack as some kind of immortal. Liam offered warning about Gwen, that this woman in town was after the fountain wouldn't care who's in the way...people have gotten hurt already because of her and he urged that she needed to be stopped before more end up on that growing list. Happy seemed to consider his words...but then her radio came to life and called her to work-- leaving Liam left alone as she headed towards the docks. No one wanted to say more than need be...but something had to give otherwise Gwen was going to succeed before they could figure out what to do about the situation. His gaze fell onto Willow by one of the chicken coops playing...the young girl lived with one that could see the future and was already tied up in ways to the supernatural community-- perhaps she would be open to having a conversation.
