Case File 2017.08.29
The day of the joyous occasion had finally arrived. Most of the morning had been spent working to get ready and fitted in appropriate attire for the Ceremony to join James and Rosaline as a couple. Delilah had been fussing with Alex while Liam and Rhea had departed earlier with James and Lucy an hour prior. Seeing as most would be actively participating in the event, they needed to get situated for the coming Ceremony. Though they didn't escape without Delilah snapping a picture of Rhea, Alex and Liam-- the makeshift family they were growing into over this trip.
THE MORGUE
Delilah and Alex were mostly about ready to head out themselves to meet up with the others...until a phone call came-- for Alex specifically. Someone from the morgue, Dr. Saint, stating there was someone who needed to speak with him and "she" was getting impatient. The two made their way over as quickly as possible, watching as Dr. Saint...as he shifted to something quite not human anymore as his name tag now read Legba while leaving to make his own way to attend the wedding. That left Alex and Delilah with the shade of Mambo Jenty who had grave news. About as much of an apology as he was likely to get for being called a Bokor...she stated that there was one, but it wasn't him-- it was Farah, her Hounsis. They had to move, quickly to get to the Ceremony since they were unable to call ahead and give warning.
THE BENACHI HOUSE
Within the old building that must have have been built during some part of 1805, the plantation style mansion sat still even after the hurricanes and floods that had struck the New Orleans. The mansion had been transformed into a fairy-tale of lanterns and candle light for tonight's Ceremony. Rhea was preparing and working to keep a focus on the task ahead, looking to Farah to ask if there was anything else she should keep in mind before it was time to start. Guests were arriving...or more like witnesses to this union. The charge of power was a brewing storm of energy ready to break. Rhea, dressed in a flowing floral gown and headdress appropriate to officiate this Ceremony as acting Priestess, made her way with Farah as the time drew near. Rhea kept her composure, even during the part of anointing the ground with the blood of a goat to prepare for the first part of the Ceremony. The exchange of gifts to the Adjutant's would be first. Liam would receive his coin wrapped in silk as Gwen received his mother's sword also wrapped in silk. The tension was unmistakable and while she hadn't been too keen on seeing Gwen either, the focus was on the wedding. As both James and Rosaline individually approached her in the center, the image of a skull drawn on their faces in ash was completed.
It was about this point that Alex bursts into the room yelling that Farah was the Bokor and raising up warning to the gathering. It all happened in moments, as the warning sounded throughout the room, Liam was on the move but not quite fast enough as Farah was already standing and hurling a sickly yellow green energy towards him. However it never struck, Gwen moved and intercepted the blow intended for him, falling limply to the ground. Alex pushed enough telekinetic power to slam into Farah and drop her to the ground. Before the young girl could recover, Brigitte crushed the back of the girl's neck with one bare foot. James watched from beside Rosaline, shocked at it all...the events quickly unfolding and unraveling all that work and planning the two had done for their union. He realized that Maman Brigitte had set up all the obstacles in their path.
Perhaps this is where it would have all ended, they'd taken care to keep pushing forward...if it wasn't for the fact that Gwen's heart suddenly began to beat again, the chance for James and Rosaline to complete the Ceremony may have been null. Gwen confirmed James' statement and squashed any attempted denial Brigitte had that she was involved. Pointing out that Farah had been promised power if she aided her as Gwen herself was called in by a prior debt to prevent the Ceremony from being completely, so long as she drew breath. That technicality of Gwen's death and resurrection trick had provided the loop hole to out the murdering Demi-God. The Ceremony could continue...and it appeared that Brigitte was piecing together how this stunt had been pulled off, an insane gambit. LaCroix, also known as Baron Samedi, had refused to let Gwen pass when struck by the deadly magic-- her body was without physical damage so when her displaced soul returned, she'd come back to the world of the living. She left in a violent plume of black smoke and even now without her mother's support...which never seemed to be there in the first place...Rosaline was ready to continue the Ceremony to James.
Rhea lead the both Rosaline and James through something like traditional wedding vows individually. The power swelling as The Choice between the happy couple was made and sealed in a kiss. The sensation was like every door and window in a warm house in the middle of February, ten fold, being opened as that power drained off and ignited a flame within them that burned brightly. The Loa had disappeared...James and Rosaline had transcended the mortal plane as the Ceremony was now complete. The only task remaining for the Adjutants was perhaps the weirdest part yet-- they were to host Rosaline and James guests in their absence for the reception part. A guest list that had several dozen insanely powerful players within the supernatural realm in attendance.
