Case File 2017.08.15

From the tail end of Liam's conversation and dinner of a sorts with Gwen-- the chain of events were planned...expected even. It didn't seem like he'd gain much more from the conversation, so he left into that thunderstorm outside to return to the hotel-- leaving Gwen alone at the table, observing.

He wasn't the only one out in the downpour of rain. Alex and Rhea were both also making their way back from the morgue to the hotel as the rain opened up on the city. It didn't bode well...the water made it more difficult to use magic. That made all the more urgency to quicken the pace to return to the hotel. However...it wasn't quick enough as that tell-tell signature of oil dripping over them as black magic spilled over the area. It was only moments later as the lights went out down the block and a lean, jagged looking figure towers over them. It must have been around nine feet tall as it statred down menacingly with that bone white face.

The tall creature flung Alex into Rhea and kept pressing the attack as they tried to recover each time. Rhea herself was used to bash a good dent into a vacant car, hard enough to shatter the window glass-- and then dragged and scraped underneath one in case that wasn't enough damage to the body. The creature was intent in dragging her off into the dark, but Rhea was not about to go gentle into that good night--or nightmare. She'd drawn her gun to shoot at its arm and succeeded and angering it enough for it to take a chomp into her. Causing her to lose the gun and resort to drawing on stored magic within Rhodanthe. Alex had found her lost gun and shot a few more rounds into it as she let fire and wind erupt on that creature. It didn't seem to do more more than annoy it...and giving them time to escape even as Rhea wanted to finish this thing off once and for all.

Alex ended up having to drag Rhea, barely able to keep her feet after the damage inflicted, back to the hotel. Thankfully between the two of them they'd managed to injure the creature so it couldn't follow after them. However...it had inflicted a nasty wound of it's own to Rhea. Even her healing wasn't responding to alleviating the damage-- Rhea was infected with something she'd never encountered before from that creature's bite. Black veins showed near the inflamed skin from that vicious bite and even with Delilah's help...there was nothing that would alleviate it... For the moment all that could be done was the more mundane methods of treatment and hoping for the best. Part of Delilah's inability to render aid was due to the conflict with that demonic energy she'd drained earlier from Alex. The other part was the oddity of whatever this toxin to her system was... It was a long night for all involved. Enough that Alex took a break to go outside to have a smoke...and by chance ran into Rachel for a chat.
