Case File 2017.08.12

HOTEL

Rachel, having traveled for a bit, ended up at the hotel where Liam and company had taken up temporary residence since arriving to sort out more of the mess surrounding Gwen's theft of Wanderland's vault. Word from Monty had her curious to see a long lost sister, Delilah. It was a shock, but also a good opportunity for Delilah to finally ask someone within her family. To learn about this Hunger and what it means being a White Court vampire or...almost one. Give the circumstances of how Delilah's first feeding went, she was stuck in-between with a chance for a choice. The demon that fuels that Hunger within White Court vampires was not fully released, she had a chance to either become one of them or to remain human.

The knowledge of this posiblity interested Delilah to press for further information. The answer sounded simple, but was finding true love really that simple? If she hadn't found it yet...she would need to find it soon or else that demon would take root and she'd become like Rachel and Monty. It left much for her to think about and Rachel knew this, so provided her with the rest of the care package she'd brought to set up her sister with funds, a place, and even work if she wanted. It was a lot to take in, Delilah would have to consider what to do now...and later after this road trip ended.

PARADISE CASINO

The fact that James Crocker already seemed to be acquainted with Alex before a formal introduction didn't entirely sit well with Liam. Lucy was clearly recognizable to Alex just as much as James was, and the young man explained in full detail-- even calling the woman beside Crocker out as a ghoul. Crocker didn't deny a word of Alex's recounting of events, seeming amused as much as it didn't find the same amusement with Liam or Rhea. Before things could get heated, Crocker reminded Liam he needed to hear the other details of his duties as Adjutant. Leaving delegation to learning about the murder of the former Adjutant to Rhea and Alex. To start checking the city morgue for Justin Rameau.

THE COURT OF TWO SISTERS

In the meantime, Liam would be left to chat with Crocker until two parts of his responsibilities as Adjutant were made known: a gift for the Bride's Adjutant to be exchanged during the ceremony itself and meeting with the Adjutant tonight at The Court of Two Sisters restaurant. The Bride's Adjutant however was both a mix of an individual he'd like to see but not all at the same time, Gwen. She seemed to be relaxed as she invited him to join her at the table and talk. To inquire further about why Gwen was doing all this. Unfortunately this chat wouldn't yield return of the Anchor or Liam's power. Whatever made the two of them candidates to be an Adjutant left a link or commonality that didn't sit well with Liam. Whatever it was though...the ceremony to occur would unit two powerful rival families within the city and bind them by more than name alone. A storm was brewing and it didn't bode well...

MORGUE

Elsewhere, in the city, Alex and Rhea were making their way to the city morgue. Not a place she'd cared to visit in the first place. They'd managed to locate their target, Justin Rameau, currently scheduled for an autopsy. They'd slip in under a veil to have a look around...and actually get to watch part of the autopsy itself as Doctor Peter Saint came into the room with a file to work on the corpse. At one point the doctor was paged away from the room, leaving the file and the body for further inspection. Of course...Alex and Rhea weren't the only ones lingering in the morgue. Something else was...it was a young man's voice...whispering and talking about teeth and claws...but only Alex seemed to notice.

The solitude of having the room to themselves didn't last long either, but it wasn't the doctor returning...there were two women that entered instead, and one could clearly see through Rhea's veil. One woman, Mambo Jenty, advised Alex not to call on the dead as that was a dangerous thing to do. That individual was apparently the master to the other young woman, Farah, the apprentice. Though...to a curious magic Rhea had yet to run across. Whatever the woman did, it seemed to set whatever lingered around the deceased body to rest. She'd pegged Alex as an almost bokor and seemed a touch amused. Even just as amused with pegging Rhea as a White Mage and questioning what she was, and granting a nod to another healer and perhaps also her position as a Warden.

The two departed shortly after, with Jenty providing a bit of a heads up that the doctor would soon return and advice in procuring one of the photos to aid in finding the Justin's killer before leaving. It seemed that Farah as well was left with a curious impression from Rhea. It was enough to leave her a bit uncomfortable, but that would have to be addressed later-- taking what would prove useful in the photos and leaving was on top of the list. The sooner to get out of the morgue, the better.
