It had been late morning when the group had arrived in the RV on the outskirts of New Orleans proper. Alex had probably spent a couple of hours with Delilah taking in the sights for a bit before the weight of the question in the back of his mind grew too much to bare being around her. He'd excused himself to leave Delilah to explore on her own for a bit, seeing that she wasn't entirely human and also with it still being daylight...didn't see a lot of trouble for her right now. He'd been mulling over his thoughts while smoking outside of the RV as Rhea was dropping by to check in herself.
She hadn't expected anyone to be back yet, so was a little surprised to see Alex there and asking if Delilah was inside as he had a smoke. Unfortunately her former apprentice responded in the negative, stating Delilah was still out in the city. That didn't leave her feeling comfortable with the thought, but there wasn't a look of panic on his face...but something else. Prying into what was wrong, Alex stated that he was scared and didn't know how to deal with it...and for once it had nothing to do with magic. On the verge of tears that he wouldn't admit or let show, he tensed and kept where he was, smoking by the RV. Rhea felt a bit guilty that perhaps something she'd stated while in the RV before the stop had brought this conversation to come up... Just because one had the spooky-natural world to deal with didn't mean there were never times when the mundane couldn't rear its head and complicate your life. She knew all too well from past mistakes.
It took a moment for Alex to state that Delilah had pointed out she might not feel the same way that he did about their relationship. Admitting that he loved the woman. Rhea didn't want to sound like a book or lecture, but states that love for another is never easy and wouldn't be worth the effort if it were so easy. She didn't have a lot ground to come from having spent most of her time locked in a library or study, but she knew this was leaving Alex with a lot of ups and downs inside. She wouldn't trade the love for others she cared about if she could, but notes that it does leave its mark on a person.
Perhaps it wasn't the best to help comfort Alex but he admits that it wasn't a fact he'd considered before...that Delilah may not actually love him back. Of all the individuals he'd been with or flirted with early on-- this was different, this was something unique. Rhea asked if he felt that Delilah was 'the one' to him then. Even without having been in relationships of the sort herself...she knew people found that special 'one' that held a whole different type of level emotionally to a person. He wasn't sure if Delilah was that, but the emotions and love he felt were strong...she saw him for what he was and saw the better parts of him. At the same time...he was afraid what would happen if he lost that...lost her...he'd spiral and that demon side could take over...
After a moment Alex changed the subject slightly, asking if Rhea knew how cameras would work around practitioners like themselves. More in the way of if the device was old enough if he could get a picture of himself and Delilah while...while they were still have moments that made them happy. The shift in topic was a bit odd, but she understood why Alex was asking. She had to think for a moment and consider while even security cameras could capture footage, it could fritz out or go grainy around a practitioner. Hesitating a moment before answering him, she speculated that if the camera was old enough it might be possible...like maybe if they could find one of those tourist spots to take pictures in old fashioned clothing or costumes they'd be able to get a picture. Provided those places hadn't decided to upgrade their tech. Part of the fun was the authenticity.
He tossed out another question, wondering if vampires could even take pictures in the first place. It was starting to seem like Alex had only skimmed parts of the notebook of basics, but at the same time it wasn't like she was expecting the question to come up because Alex wanted to have a photo-op moment with one of the White Court in the first place. The White Court were pretty photogenic, some even in the 'adult' film industry from what she'd heard in passing. Those that might have more of the general public knowledge surrounding vampires came from Stoker's novel and were more in regards to the Black Court rather than anyone else. Not that she'd gone out of her way to test how much was true from the book to supernatural reality in a one-on-one experimental process directly...though her understanding is that it was accurate.
Either way...it seemed like enough to distract Alex for the moment and he poked at Rhea to join him in looking through old pawn shops or whatnot...scouting out the area a bit. Stating they could help Liam out a bit with keeping an eye out for sanctuary or supernatural hot spots. Rhea pointed out that Liam had already given her some information before departing to scout out a bit of the town himself but figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look around a bit and get a better lay of the land. She did note that Alex would need to leave Delilah a note in case she made it back to the RV, if they didn't happen to bump into her in the city, so she'd be aware of what was going on... Maybe a little bit of time would help the other woman, the cramped RV was far beyond ideal to sort out one's thoughts with everyone crowded around you. The agreement to go out with Alex into town for a bit seemed to help improve his mood just a little bit.
