Case File 2017.07.22
Since that connection between Liam and his Power gave a nudge and direction at their last stop for lunch, they’d headed after that lead. The odd sensation of his power calling to him was curious to keep him at the wheel driving. Rhea helped to navigate as best she could, without more than a general direction it was a bit slower to make sure they didn’t manage to double back on themselves on the road and lose time. That pull has been strong that Liam was trying to push every last mile out before they would have to stop for the night. They should have probably stopped in Tulsa, but in edging out as much distance as time would allow they would eventually find themselves entering Wybark, Oklahoma for the night.
Alex and Delilah had been able to refresh themselves with a shower at the last stop during lunch earlier. With his sight finally restored, Alex could see the injuries endured from the prior fight with that creature in Colorado as well as the streaks of white from his near death night of passion with Delilah back in Vegas. Having been on the move constantly there was little time to do more than keep on the move, especially with Wanderland’s Lost following behind. Delilah had been pretty quiet since they departure in Colorado. Something weighing on her mind and for the moment it was something she was keeping to herself.
In case the distraction of focusing on the call and direction from Liam’s Power was causing him to forget the time, Rhea stated it was about time they looked for a place to secure Liam for the evening. He agreed and stated they’d have to go with the church plan again for him…and that it’d be a good idea to set up a Circle too since The Lost were getting more determined. Alex piped up and volunteered his help to make a Circle for Liam. He’d been a bit obsessed with them after his run in with Mab. Plus he stated it was probably better to conserve Rhea’s energy for other matters. A fact that made her feel a bit odd, but at the same time understood the need given that she’d probably be the heavier hitter in a fight until everything was sorted out…
Alex earned a Look from Liam at the reasoning he’d been a bit more obsessed with Circles before letting out a breath and confirming that Alex would be on Circle duty with him while Rhea would go with Delilah to arrange lodging for the night. Thankfully it wouldn’t take long to find a Church for the night, and Rhea took over the wheel of the RV while leaving Liam and Alex to get things settled there. Delilah wondered if it was a good idea to leave those two together as they drove away— Rhea only confirmed it didn’t feel like it but she trusted they’d keep it together to deal with the situation. At least…she hoped that was the case. Liam was able to locate a side door and pick the lock to let Alex and himself in to begin the prep work.
For his newly adopted apprentice, Liam was finding out quickly that he would have much to do regarding the boy’s teaching. Alex admitted he didn’t have anything on hand to make the Circle with but figured there was probably some salt somewhere in a kitchenette of sorts and went to find it and then bring it to Liam. Perhaps not his first best impression to Liam, but he took care to make a thick line of salt around his new teacher. With the Circle secure behind the threshold of the Church, there was a brief moment for a few questions. Alex knew that Liam had found out that LaDragos was his father, but he wanted to know if the man also knew who his mother was… The question was expected, it was bound to come about sooner or later. Liam eventually answered that he did know Alex’s mother but right now it would be too dangerous to discuss that. That knowledge wouldn’t just get him killed by those like Rhea or Liam himself. That answer frustrated Alex, but he took it reasonably well…perhaps a bit better than Liam had expected. He wanted those answers but wouldn’t press now to protect the others, but one day Alex would need that information. If not direct from Liam himself…he’d go looking. The conversation done for now, Alex left Liam to his night of defenses within the Church to go catch up with Delilah and Rhea for the evening. Though not without making a more pointed statement that he was alone on the walk back to that voice that had been around and helped him out during this crazy road trip.
A short ways down the road, Delilah and Rhea had made their way to a small motel and arranged lodging for the night. After a moment, Delilah managed to bring herself to ask how well she knew Alex. It wasn’t difficult to note that the two knew each other beforehand, seeing how Rhea had come all the way to Vegas to search for him after his disappearance in Chicago. Rhea had kept so busy that time had blurred for her…she finally figured that it was at best close to a year since she’d known Alex. Or more like when Luna had performed a drop ship delivery of the young man to the Castle’s doorstep. Despite that, she felt that Delilah had a bit more weighing on her mind and prodded the young woman. Delilah admits after a moment that she doesn’t really know him and everything between them had escalated since their time in Vegas…and it seems only now during this part of their journey she’d had a moment to slow down and question things. She’d followed Delilah out to look for a place to get dinner for the night after settling the lodging situation, and to continue the conversation.
