Waking from sleep at some point Alex went to search for Delilah, no longer feeling her presense in the room and only vaguely recalling she was going to step outside for some fresh air. As he got to the door, there was a distinctly female shaped statue in front of him, it hadn't been there before but there it was now. A moment later a rasping laugh as a voice, sounding like a thousand beetles scuttling over a corpse, as it claims to see him.
Alex had done his best to familiarize himself with his surroundings, and the sudden stone structure in a place it shouldn't have been was a bit concerning. Even more so when in his confusion it appeared to be similar in height and feel to that of Delilah. He whirled to the sound of that voice, demanding to know what'd they'd done. That same unsettling female voice stated, both serpentine yet feminine in sound, it had collected them. A sharp sting cut across his cheek as something like a harsh gust of wind passed. He tried to pin the source of that voice, attempting to converse with this creature, asking why it was toying with him.
Another clawed hand struck at his chest, slashing through his skin as it took hold of his shirt and tossing him through the window beside the doorway he'd remained at within the motel until Alex found himself tumbling on the sidewalk and coming to a stop in the mostly vacant parking lot. It hissed and broken glass clinked as whatever it was moved over the window fram Alex had just passed through, rather forcefully. It loomed over Alex and picked him up once more as the feeling of dark magic washed over him and around him...then a pause...and confusion. He was still flesh and blood instead of yet another statue in this thing's collection.
A mix of fear and anger welled up in Alex as he drew on his power to call forth flame to lash out at where he'd thought he'd heard the creature. He'd have a moment to briefly wonder how his flame somehow deflects from his intended target before his head bounced off the hood of a car and hitting the ground again as the creature took its anger out on him. As he was recovering from that toss, a familiar ghostly voice spoke close beside him...the same one that had helped him in Tijuana. That Brit voice told him to run and started giving him directions towards the RV.
Collecting himself as best he could, Alex made his way to the RV with the ghost's help and hoping there was more of a plan than just running. There was urgency in that spectral voice, if this 'thing' that had tossed Alex about was still alive by sunrise...his friends would be dead. With detailed instructions the ghost navigated Alex to locate one of Liam's other swords that'd been stashed under the couch. With the blade in hand, capable of disrupting enchantments like a Warden's sword, Alex was directed to exit the RV from the ceiling hatch to avoid being caught in a close quarter fight.
It was a momentary comfort to have the familiar surroundings of the RV to navigate and Alex quickly moved as instructed as the ghost peppered the guidance with it's version of advice as to why the young man had it so difficult. Nothing that could really be disccued in more detail as the creature had managed to snag part of his pants and a shoe while Alex was scrambling up the hatch to the top of the RV. The ghost prompted with urgency for him to turn and swing that blade as the monster, Bright Eyes, was moving to follow up after him. It didn't connect exactly as the spirit had planned to behead the thing, but it cut through the creatures eye sockets and half the skull to remove a little off the top as the sound of something wet smacked onto the earth below. Still rendering the thing just as lifeless as it fell from the roof of the RV and made another resounding splat beside the RV as well.
The spirit gave a positive affirming 'that'll do' to signal the fight was done. Only moments later the cool arctic-like breeze blew into Alex's eyes and his vision began to return. The ectoplasm was mostly disapated by the time sight returned to him. A moment of joy, followed by worry considering that the building he'd been tossed from at the beginning of the fight was now on fire from the prior attempt to burn the creature. Panic set in as Delilah was still in there and Alex raced towards the flames of the motel to find her and pull her out to safety. He found her easily enough, able to see her once more, and she was now flesh and blood instead of stone. It was a moment before she recovered as Alex tended to her after extracting her from the flames eating away at the motel.
She noticed that Alex looked like he'd been in a fight with a box cutter, covered in blood from the injuries by the claws of that creature from earlier. He was relieved but at the same time still worried and knew they needed to find the others. Whatever dark magic had be used to bind Delilah to stone had left a trace connection of some kind...she knew Liam and Rhea were in the mansion on the hill. He helped her up and the two settled into the RV to take it up the hill to the mansion she'd mentioned. Liam and Rhea were both found alive in that place, a bit groggy but flesh and blood once more. The rest of the statues within that mansion remained as such...like the spirit had stated to Alex earlier, if the creature had remained alive by dawn-- Delilah, Liam and Rhea would all have shared the same fate.
Alex wasn't asked to move as the others entered to settle into the RV as well, Liam gave him the direction of 'east' and they were off, leaving this town behind. The sounds of a volunteer fire crew in the distance to deal with the motel fire. Fatigue got the best of Delilah and she shortly joined Rhea and Liam in getting more rest. Alex continued to drive in the direction Liam had indicated...contemplating a bit more on the inflicted 'punishment' of his blindness and how events had turned out because of the condition. He'd be open to explain what had happened if anyone asked, minus the voice in his head...he wasn't certain what to make of that currently. Exhaustion had been a bit much on everyone to pry just yet into his suddenly regained sight, which was a bit strange getting used to after not being able to see, but they wouldn't have left him to drive and catch up on rest if they were concerned about him being unable to see the road properly.
