The motion was quick, Rhea almost didn't notice Ramirez had ducked behind the corner to prep something before initiating the surprise side attack to the Reds surrounding the RV. He'd drawn the humid air to counter out the fire spell of that vampire preparing to cook those still within the Winnebago. Causing a momentary cover of steam, she'd reached for her own blade to join in the fight and find some way to make a path for Alex and Delilah to escape.
Within the RV itself, as the reality sunk in that the were under attack, Alex drew up a protective barrier to shield Delilah and himself. They were going to have to move, and currently the best idea was to move the RV itself...crushing whatever was in their path. Currently that was Reds...and lots of them, but they could only see what was visible from the windows. The need to get out of there had been so great that Delilah hadn't exactly noted until the vehicle started to move that she didn't know how to drive.
Ramirez and Rhea noticed the RV was already on the move to extract itself from danger, leaving them to change tactics. Even with a slight casualty from the opening blast of the fight, leaving some of the Reds dead or injured-- there was still one too many to not be overwhelmed. Ramirez drew magic to do something to the ground...making it like quicksand as the moisture from the concrete vaporized, kicking dust up into the air. With the brief cover he ran, Rhea didn't delay following after, and was a bit surprised he was difficult to keep up with in this foot race.
ALEX DEWITT & DELILAH TURNER
Inside the RV Alex was staggering his way up to the front, but also doing his best to instruct Delilah on how to use the pedals and gear shift to the vehicle. It wasn't a smooth ride...and he'd never gotten a good look at it before being blinded, so he'd have to rely on operating a general automobile in the first place as his point of reference. Driving in the general sense wasn't very difficult, but it was still daunting to one that'd never been behind the wheel in their lifetime such as Delilah.
Alex didn't seem pleased to hear there were three peddles when asking for the layout of the driver's side of the vehicle. More was not better in this case, but at least he knew what he was working with now and did his best to instruct her at using the clutch and feeding the RV gas to get it moving properly. It was a good try, and they made it a little bit before cutting too close to a corner and hitting a metal fence and ending up crashing the RV. It wasn't as bad of a crash as it could have been, but the engine had stalled and died making that method of travel obsolete for the moment.
The chaos and disorientation of the crash was perhaps touch longer than Alex would have liked, being unable to use his sight to visually focus on anything to steady himself. Without wheels, they were going to have to find another way to move...a place with a threshold. He was quickly finding that his usual tactics of brute force was being of little help to him here and having to focus his thoughts on being defensive or evasive right now. Delilah offered that a church would likely protect them from Reds currently keeping up with them. She looked around and found they'd ended up crashing in front of one-- talking him through where to go to escape from a broken window within the RV and to the doors of the church. In the meantime while he made his way out, she'd distract the other Red that she saw talking towards them. Before confirming his movement she opened the other door to intercept that other Red heading towards the RV, yelling at him for interfering. About that same time a voice, with a rough British accent, sounds right beside Alex commenting on how bad this plan was likely to go...even as he was trying to focus at heading towards that church from the directions Delilah had given him.
Delilah's bluff at tossing around the name House Raith fell short as the Red she was chastising didn't seem to care about where she stood in the ranks of the White Court. That same Brit-voice Alex had heard spoke again as he heard Delilah's rant cut short by that other vampire. It was only moments later that the Red called out to Alex to taunt him. Though at the same time that unseen Brit-voice was providing instructions on where to move, find a gun so he could take action. With little options available, and concern for Delilah, he found himself moving as that other voice directed and asking how he could save her. The vampire continued to taunt as Alex became visible, holding a gun, and clearly unable to see. With that Brit-voice guiding Alex, he was able to aim the gun at the vampire for a shot. Which likely surprised that vampire for a moment before the bullet hit and splattered its brains out onto the sidewalk. The sound of two bodies hit the floor, and Delilah's voice asking how he'd managed to do that as that other voice was congratulating him on the shot. His injured hands hurt so much, and the recoil from the gunshot hadn't helped either. Alex stated he was acting on faith to Delilah, and quietly thanking that ghost voice...not quiet wanting to explain or maybe even understanding it fully himself just yet. The Brit-voice acknowledged that thanks as it seemed to grow fainter while Alex and Delilah headed into the church.
RHEA WALSH & ALVARO RAMIREZ
Rhea and Ramirez ran back half a block and down an alleyway. There were still several Reds following after them. He waited a few moments before ducking back out from that alleyway to engage with the Reds that hadn't expected the attack. At one point he'd drawn his gun to take out one, resulting in the sudden dead weight pinning him down as another vampire with an uzi planned to finish the local Warden off but leaving their back exposed to Rhea.
She'd watched as Ramirez moved quickly but ended up having the tables turned on him with the arrival of another Red while being pinned by a prior Red's dead body. Running out herself would not only expose her, but might not get her close enough in time, that left her the option of drawing on the energy of air. Compressing it around in a suffocating column to crush anything within...like a vacuum or black hole with no escape. Perhaps a dozen bullets hit the dead body of the Red that had Ramirez pinned, and while it wouldn't have been able to handle a fully unloaded clip-- Rhea's magic turned the gun toting Red into the equivilant of a beer can.
He'd placed his trust in Rhea that he'd survive a point blank face-off with an uzi, that was a lot of trust for having just met. That wasn't something she wanted to again...and outside of catching her breath, the two would be on the move once more back down that alleyway. He didn't seem to be phased much by the close call even as they continued on their way and taking out vampires that managed to getin the way. He still had a few tricks up his sleeve and somehow a glass blub of sorts he'd tossed back to cover additional follow-up from behind, had created some green cloud of sorts which solidified and trapped the would-be pursuers.
Eventually the two would make their way though a narrow opening past some dumpsters and into an old assembly facilities...abandoned dust covered bottles, boxes and crates throughout the area. For the moment they had a break, but were also cornered without a clear exit. Rhea drew in some of her magic to try and sense the area for both anyone else in there with them as well as a way out from the trouble still pursuing them. The factory may look abandoned, but that didn't mean there wasn't a chance a Red didn't happen to be crawling on the walls or ceilings of a place like this. Ramirez put his back to Rhea as they searched the facility while reloading his gun.
Of all the places or times, the guy chose now to make conversation and asked what she did for fun. Rhea was trying to keep focus on the air currents for any changes, this didn't seem the time or place, but still she answered with a brief admission of going out on patrol. She didn't have much of a life outside of work. Something that even Alex had gotten onto her about when he started living at the Castle and seeing the constant weary state when she appeared. Not that her time with research and study was passable as 'fun' in the traditional sense to most people. Apparently the answer amused Ramirez, or gave him the inspiration to state he'd take her dancing, if he lived through the night. Of all the places to ask for a date, she couldn't help but roll her eyes now but at least he wouldn't be able to see that. Though only moments later she could sense his posture stiffen as he lowered his voice to tell her to put up her best veil while he distracts their pursuers that had managed to trail them to this abandoned factory. Even as glass shattered and vampires made their way in...he engaged the fight with flare, and added words to make sure Rhea knew he was being charming and heroic in the process. There wasn't a lot of time to argue, and as much as she didn't want to leave, both of them couldn't be caught here...he said he'd catch up...plus he wanted to take her dancing. As she left, the sounds of the fight still carried on behind her-- Ramirez was giving them hell.
