Wanderland: Night of the Fight

Liam’s fight with The House was due to start shortly, a fight he’d taken on for Alex who was in no shape to fight at this point. Before it would be time, he’d called for Rhea and Elena to meet up in the room. Elena met up with him first, enough time to have a moment between close friends that’d known each other in the best and worst of times over so many years. Rhea’s slightly late arrival moments after wasn’t much of a surprise, she was still tired from the prior night of helping to restore Alex by keeping his heart beating. The quirky talent of hers was a curiosity in itself, but it still took its toll when pushed as extensively as it was the prior evening. Between the three of them Liam had poured three small glasses of whiskey. A moment between the three before an uncertain outcome looming in the near future— bonds deeper with some over others, but still bonds made all the same. Not making much for words at this point, with the limited time the volumes any of them would want to say just wasn’t there. Liam’s advice was to cash out and leave Vegas if things went South…he was up against an undefeated Godling after all. Elena didn’t believe in all their years this would be the end of their friendship and lent a salute with drink in hand to his forthcoming gruesome death surrounded by bloodthirsty, cheering bastards. Rhea knew the odds didn’t look good but at the same time she wasn’t willing to believe this was the end of things either— even with their past being a bit at odds in the former teacher/student aspect…she’d grown to understand and respect more now than before the lessons he’d tried to explain. Lessons that made more sense to her on a deeper level after she’d taken Alex on as her apprentice and saw a lot of that reckless behavior she’d had in him. Her salute by drink earned her the comment from Liam of being the ‘delusionist’ and that brought out a bigger smile in her. As he left to meet Gwen and Sterling’s men to be escorted to the fight— Elena stated he ‘kick his ass’ while Rhea stated the ride wasn’t over and to ‘give ‘em hell’ with both left to wonder how this fight would end. Each keeping faith and hope in their own ways.

As the one known as The Ice Queen, Gwen, along with Sterling’s men escorted Liam towards the Colosseum for his fight— she’d asked why he offered to put his life on the line. Outside of the obvious fact that the current situation left unstated that it wasn’t fare due to recent events as they played out, his answer was vague. He’d offered only vague truth to Gwen to leave her speculating what investment he had in Alex’s survival. Not that she’d expect to gain much more than that, she just openly states it’s more than that but as Liam counters it would be something she’d just have to find out herself, shortly before he’s standing within the sand floor of the Colosseum. Due to the silver bracelets— magic wouldn’t be accessible to him and seeing the Minotaur like individual known as The House didn’t put odds in his favor on the physical level. Armed with a spear, devoid of his magic, Liam entered the fight prepared to rely on his speed over sheer strength. The crowd drawn to this fight was still considerable even though The House always wins. At the start of the fight, Liam made a good effort against his opponent, but his unnatural build due to his nature still put the handicapped Wizard to a disadvantage. Most opponents didn’t last long, from Gwen’s observation in the stand alongside Sterling, LaDragos and Singh. After Liam was half blinded and found himself lame in one leg and without one hand which was swallowed by The House itself— the fight appeared to be over…however, when The House tried to charge in for the killing strike an invisible force prevented movement. In the time that Liam had been beaten around and taken a loss of a limb, that particular limb just happened to be the one that wore the silver bracelet inhibiting his magic— spinning in a circle, a motion that seemed wild and uncoordinated due to the injury at first actually was planned and allowed him to create a Circle. One that The House couldn’t pass give its inhuman nature. With his magic free via loophole to the rules for these fights, Liam drew on his Power to turn The House and former undefeated Champion into a withered, autumn leaf of a husk that collapsed into itself.

Needless to say, the Colosseum audience was stunned…no one had ever beat The House before…at least not until tonight. A roar of applause erupted as the fact sunk in and after The Wizard Winchester was declared the winner by Sterling, he was quickly brought up to his own room so that Gwen could work on preserving his life. Due to rules, the silver bracelet that had fallen off as Howie, the name Delilah called out as his life left him in the ring…it also meant that the same Powers drawn upon to win the fight and start to mend his body would be disabled and causing him to bleed out again at the site of the injury. For this reason it was at Sterling’s nudge to Gwen that she come with him to the announcement as the silver bracelet was placed back on Liam. At first the odds seemed stacked, but in the end this turned out to be a big win for her…and it was in her best interest fix the damage he’d sustained during the fight. To her advantage, his Power was self-preserving and worked to mend some of the troublesome aspects before it was disabled by the bracelet once more. For the moment, the fight was won and Alex had been spared by Liam’s actions. Yet that would hardly be the end of this.
