Case File 2017.03.20

The time was coming for Alex's second fight, since Ed was no longer around, the cell in the Wildcard area had been mostly quiet. Or it was until the tapping and another voice from an area of brick at the back of his cell. The voice was coming from his future opponent, Silver Hand, and it wasn't exactly the kind of chat he was expecting. The other man, even for his fame as a Wildcard to notice-- he was just as much a prisoner and victim in this place as Alex. It didn't take long to confirm that Delilah was the common denominator that had drawn them both into this situation, though Silver Hand had been here for years. Enough that he'd stated she would be an older woman by this point. That didn't sound like the young woman or 'rabbit' he'd met. Silver Hand didn't often get to speak with his future opponents...and it seems that in this case he was going to take advantage of the oppertunity by making Alex a deal.

A few hours later, Alex and Silver Hand were in the pits facing off with each other. The fight was well into the match by the time Elena and Rhea found their way to the arena. Because it was a fight with curious mortal that'd taken down the vampire Calder versus Silver Hand-- a sizable crowd had turned up for this event. The fight for Alex didn't appear to be going very well as the two arrive. The sight of young Alex in the Pit made her stomach drop...and yet while the kid could hold his own, he wasn't using everything he had currently and that didn't make sense. Not in an actual fight to the death. She didn't know what she could do-- acting would break the rules of this place and forfit it's welcome. Yet as her mind was trying to sort out some kind of plan, something changed...Alex won the fight.

In the final moments when Alex and Silver Hand locked their gaze with each other-- he understood that it'd been a good hundred years or more since he became this Pit's death dealer in exchange to save a daughter. A parting word of luck, and Alex's blade extinguished that other life...setting Silver Hand free. The bell rang signalling the end of the match and naming 'Alex of Chicago' as the victor. A small relief for both Elena and Rhea as the problem was no longer how to help Alex survive this fight, since he'd won, but now it was how to get him out of there.

Just because he understood he was setting someone free, didn't mean Alex was about to give them more of a show as Silver Hand fell in combat. He'd withdrawn and headed back towards the door to lead to the cells. Filled with mixed feelings, the other man's death had been a good thing but at the same time it made him feel horrible for the action. Of the many spectators that night, there was many now that would take note of young Alex-- having beaten Silver Hand. One that'd been unmatched for years in the Pit. So it was no surprise when after he'd gotten partially settled back in his cell that Gwen approched with an offer to sponsor him.

As Elena and Rhea were working to make their way through the crowd considering on splitting up again however, Sterling catches their attention, surprised to see them both at tonight's fight. Keeping polite, Elena admits this isn't what she'd consider entertainment but also pointing out that the young man that just won, was their missing friend Alex. Sterling offered a mixed appology of sorts, stating it was good they'd found Alex but also unfortunate that it was in the situation they'd just witnessed moments prior. As a proper host, he offer to answer three questions regarding the workings about Wanderland. It was clear that neither of them had encountered anything quite like this. They got enough to know that Alex had been used as payment of a sorts to end up as a Wildcard fighter. That the one known as LaDragos has been around for nearly a century so definately not normal. Outside of becoming a Wildcard themselves and throwing their match and forfiting their life to give Alex a final win towards freedom-- there was always Kismet's Table...a curosity that might also grant Alex's freedom. With that Sterling excused himself and left them to sort out the information, but not before dropping a curteous blessing and to pass that on to Liam Winchester the next time either saw him. Continuing that theme of people knowing far too much...about either of them. Both decided for the time being Alex would be okay for a bit and heading back to their rooms to figure something out for tomorrow would be the best course of action at the moment. Elena would try to see if she could contact Liam while Rhea continued to sort out what she'd observed in looking for an answer to this situation.
