Case File 2017.03.16

After arriving in Vegas by courtesy of Corvus' ship-- Elena and Rhea split up to cover more ground, knowing that time would be precious. Alex had been missing for four days and there was a lot that could happen within such a span of time. Making her way to the LVPD, she hoped to get some information on any open human trafficking cases within the city. The Detective Dan Foster notes her arrival and inquires on if he could help her. Elena introduces herself as Captain with the Chicago PD, wanting to cut to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible to asking on information regarding a missing friend that was likely to have turned up in his city. Accepting that, Foster goes to his computer to first check in the system if there were any cases, adding that this city was a bad place to be missing in moreso these days. As they checked the computer, nothing came up showing trace of reports surrounding Alex, at the mention of LaDragos quietly-- the detective offered her a cup of coffee to signal discreately a need to take their conversation to the break room. Once in a bit more private area of that break room he confirms much of what Elena had learn since the prior meeting with Monty. LaDragos is a problem and involved in all sorts of illegal activities within the city and his image is of a philanthropist by those that don't know the truth. Those that'd attempted to go after the man has ended up in Foster's department, unemployed...or worse. Untouchable. People just disappeared around LaDragos if he found them bothersome. Elena, prompting for a location, gets further confirmation that this detective knows Vaclav's bad news, perhaps on a different level than just watching cases cross his desk. Begrudgingly he passes on the info and hands her a number to a disposible cell in case she gets into trouble. With that, Elena makes her way to get a change of clothes before making her way to Vaclav's place at a Casino within the city. In attire more fitting for a Vegas casino, Elena makes her way inside LaDragos' place and settles in to observe. It wasn't long before LaDragos noticed Elena and sent Delilah over to extend an invitation to join him at his private booth.

Rhea, left to her own devices in a city she'd had little experience in fell into a bit of that Warden routine-- looking for the trouble that dared to cross over into the world of mortals. It took a bit, but before long she'd caught from a distance a Red taking a young girl away from prying eyes on the street. It seemed like an argument between the two had broken out...and then the woman's demeanor changed as she started to hang on the man suddenly drunk and giddy, as if no arguement had taken place. She'd closed the distance just before things could get too physical...and deadly...between the two-- ending up in a bit of a hostage situation. The Red recognized her as a Warden and shifted his grip to be more threatening around the young call girl's neck. Attempting to defuse the situation and she pointed out that the girl still being alive was reason he was still moving and it'd be in his interest to leave her alive and just have a chat with her. Going in guns blazing so-to-speak would likely cause more harm then help. The vampire unfortunately chose option three-- cutting the girl's neck just enough to nick enough of an artery to cause heavy bleeding. Forcing Rhea to either chase him and let the girl die or work to save her life while he got away...option two was her course of action. Moving in close to apply pressure on the wound and see what she could do to help the girl survive this encounter. While the effects of Red venom could be strong, the mix of shock and fear rapidly drains that euphoria away as the realization that death may be looming fills the girl's thoughts. Without proper supplies, there was going to be difficulty in keeping her alive but as odd luck would have it...a paramedic was passing by and noticed the two down the alleyway. The paramedic's dinner was fed to the sidewalk as he called in the emergancy and grabbed a med pack to start helping the girl at the scene. Falling into routine and asking what happened as he shifts Rhea out of the way to take over at stablizing the girl. This...was one of those times she couldn't tell the exact truth, but just enough to make it sound normal by mortal standards-- she'd stated at witnessing an argument between this girl and another man and then that same individual cutting the girl's neck before running off...that might make it sound like a deal or robbery gone wrong. Either way, she appologises and states she has to go after that man and runs off to catch up with the vampire-- only to find someone else had caught him first and was just finishing cleaning up their blade after dispatching him. Once again this night being called out as a 'Warden' by someone she didn't know. The young woman, Gwen Teller, appeared not just annoyed but unimpressed with Rhea's presence in the city. Outside of this woman obviously being in the 'know' regarding the spooky-natural...Gwen recognized the names she mentioned regarding trying to locate LaDragos and Wanderland. She didn't like the the fact that the other stated in all likelihood she'd never see Alex again and then adding she was in the wrong part of the city if that was her intent. Reluctant and with few other leads, she accepts Gwen's offer to guide her to Wanderland.

Meanwhile, within the Wildcard cells-- Lucky Ed was preping himself for his third and final fight. Just one more win and he'd be on top of the world! He gives Alex a thumbs up as the guards escort him out to the Pit, leaving his cell mate to guage the outcome from the sounds of the crowd that floated down there. Of course he wouldn't be alone for long, Mab decided to make an appearance to have a little chat. Seemingly unimpressed she comments on Alex's recent win against Calder-- one of Crane's people and hints at potential retribution for that Black Court vampire's demise. The sight of Mab causes Alex to get riled up in a hurry demanding answers and wanting to attack the Winter Queen for the current situation...all aspects of proper 'manners' flew out the window. He only caught himself before his tounge could label Mab with a derogatory term regarding her gender...if that could even apply to an Immortal Winter Fae. Either way it was rude and likely to get him killed for finishing the c-word so Alex dropped it... The Winter Queen gave him a look daring the young man to finish that word-- asking for a good reason to take action...perhaps by removing that tongue of his or the use of it by some means. Mab clearly states the facts of his situation and while she's not at liberty to disclose answers to some of his questions-- the ones she could answer, such as how Vaclav LaDragos knew Alex's name, would exact a price. Which of course set him off into another rant, regarding how useful any cryptic answers for an absurd price she'd request would do him and how he had no plans in playing this game any longer than he had to regarding the current favors she claims on him. Pointing out that he suspects she'd set up the situation in the first place to put him in her debt. Sounds of the crowd outside in the Pits went crazy for a moment at the pause in their conversation. Mab points out that after Alex's first fight he's drawn all the right attention which could help is situation, provided he could survive his second match and possible end up with a sponsor-- making note that he would never survive the one called Silver Hand. The change in subject from his initial line of questioning only serves to annoy Alex further...he taunts at letting the next fighter killing him instead of dealing with Mab. The Winter Queen's response to that was to state Alex was a coward and as well to point out that if he did so, no one would be able to free the White Rabbit, Delilah. However she admits that if Alex did manage to get himself killed that would aleviate him from punishment for his rudeness...before disappearing. At about the time of her vanishing act, guards were walking back through the Wildcard cell areas-- a bloody, lifeless mess. The anger grew in the young man, watching his former cell mate's body passing by and unable to do more than yell and try to shake the cell bars.
