It’d been several nights since Alex had followed up from the initial ‘sparing match’ of sorts with Rhea in a continuing effort to grant some relief that his ‘teacher’ and the Warden remain intact and in one piece for the duration of his education. On the surface it might seem a bit self-centered, but there was genuine concern regarding her well-being as Rhea consistently pushed her limits and toed the line between her health and the job. He’d cornered her in the Castle’s kitchen to press the matter of additional practice upon her over dinner. Alex wanted to make sure that in the areas he could, that he’d help— in other areas, he worked to press her towards Lucas or Elena to train and learn and hone her skills. Their little ‘match’ from the other night had opened her eyes to her current situation…and while she wasn’t about to drop and change things so easily— Rhea would make a more concentrated effort to improve.
Of course having that matter more or less addressed for the moment didn’t mean Alex was without other concerns— not when Mab decides to show up in the middle of a meal. It had been some time since he’s spoken with “Mary-Anne” before the reveal she was the Winter Queen…it could have almost passed as a strange dream, except she manifested in the very chair he’d been about to sit upon for dinner. Apparently her sudden appearance meant she was calling in one of the three favors owed for saving his life after a Fomor attack one evening just outside the Castle. Alex still wasn’t certain what value he could offer the Winter Queen with his service at these favors, but apparently there must be something she knew that he didn’t currently. There wasn’t much direction to her request other than ‘follow the White Rabbit…and not die’ which outside of that ominous tone itself, he wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone about the task. He was given the place to find the focus of his task, and unfortunately the binding to not speak about his mission. Alex was only starting to learn the frustrations of dealing with the Winter Fae.
